Internet K20 Initiative Videoconference in Libraries

On December 8, Dykes Library, along with several other libraries across the country, will be taking part in a videoconference on Videoconferencing in Libraries, as part of the Internet2 K20 Initiative and the newly formed Videoconferencing Librarians Interest Group. According to Jim Werle, director of the Internet2 K20 Initiative, "This will be an opportunity for librarians from all across the country to collaborate and support each other around the wealth of possibilities that videoconferencing affords."

Possible topics to be explored in this, and future meetings include:
  • Learning how other libraries are currently using videoconferencing.
  • Sharing lessons learned, best practices, and solutions to common challenges.
  • Discussing possible collaborative programming opportunities between libraries.
  • Exchanging information on available grant sources in order to build videoconferencing capacity.
If interested, there is no need to RSVP. Just show up in the main Dykes conference room at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 8. If you have any questions, you can contact Gail at 8-2324, or Bob at 8-7311.
